Jeffco Works
The Jeffco Works program is a partnership between SWAP, the Workforce Center, and JTS. The program is employment focused and is for students who are on the track to part or full-time employment. This is a one year program.
Students are expected to be employment focused, have independent travel training skills, and to be enrolled in SWAP/DVR before entering the program.
Program Details
Jeffco Works is for students interested in receiving instruction in employment readiness, self-determination, and financial literacy. Students are assigned to an internship site in a Jeffco district setting based on several factors including preference and skill. In their second semester with the Works program, students are paid an hourly wage by the Workforce Center. At the end of the school year, interns are either placed in the field through the Workforce Center or hired directly by participating businesses.
Students in Jeffco Works take public transportation to and from classroom learning and work internship sites. Jeffco Works staff will travel-train students as needed at the beginning of the school year.
Students participate in internship experiences at Jeffco district sites to build workplace soft skills and are expected to be safe and responsible while in the community without the presence of staff. Programming is three days per week with an optional social day.
